Coincidentally, I was just watching the newest Star Trek movie, which isnt half bad and I am experiencing a bit of déjà vu..except this is a planet-eating-star not a black-hole-planet-engulfer..too bad...

So let me draw a picture for you in layman terms. It takes 1.1 'Earth' days for the star to revolve around the planet, which is sick from the orbiting planet-eating-star, causing it to vomit all over its attacker. Nice huh. EW

They have also stated that elements have been discovered on WASP that have never been found here on planet Earth. Hmm, I wonder if Tony Stark didn't really invent a new element for his Arc Reactor, or if he just traveled 600 light years away to the constellation Auriga and snatched some..

I don't know about you, but if I saw red 2D figures running in front of my car I would hit the gas...I'm not hanging around for those aliens to invade my vehicle.

Supposedly, this is suppose to make the drivers more aware of coming pedetrians. Lame. Why don't they just make walkways above the roads. I'm sure that would be cheaper. Ha! Besides from the obvious fact that these laser sending/ receiving devices would be blown to shit after a week of normal traffic. I can forsee some hackers getting a hold of the program and reprogramming it with new images or words. Which would actually be quite humorous.

Kevlar Wallpaper, For Those Walls Ready for Battle

Wallpaper made out of Kevlar? What! What! 'Tis true, this wallpaper is made of woven Kevlar fibers and is supposed to withstand the blast of a bomb. - Though obviously not a neutron bomb, because that's just silly. Regardless, I have posted a video demonstration of its mystic powers below. Here are a few things I noticed- flaws- if you will in its design and/ or testing.

-The wallpaper will only work if it is mounted onto something stronger above it. i.e. not a ceiling...which most people have. This would mean that this would only work if you were in a concrete cube (that's right cube as in all 6 sides) bomb shelter.

-The lack of color and or design templates is very disappointing. If I am going to spend an apocalypse in a room with people who are sure to get on my nerves, I need some damask print up in that b.

Do you think it is illegal to wrap yourself in this on a daily basis? Hmm.. It is illegal to wear a Kevlar jacket in public, thanks to ODB- Who ruined it for us all!

Long story short. I want a concrete room, covered in this.

Hey hang on a second, or rather a millenium while I open this door.

This is an actual door MAZE lock, and yes, the chain does extend the entire length of the maze. There are two problems or flaws if you will that I foresee happening while using this.

(1) It takes 5 minutes to open the door, if there is a fire, youre dead, if there is a burglar inside your house, youre dead.
(2) They put a dinky ass chain on it, which means its easy to break. Youre dead

While aesthetically pleasing this is a dumb home accessory sure to leave you dead. Next!

Week 2: Med School Progress..

So I know this blogs main purpose was to blog about classes each day of medical school and let you guys know how it is. Well here's the thing..I havent had time to blog that much ..Im sorry!! Each day I am in class from 8-4 and then come home for a short snack, study for another few hours, eat dinner, shower, study and sleep. This makes all studying in undergrad seem very insignificant. I thought I studied for those classes, but really, I didnt know what studying was until I got here. So what I think Ill do is do an end of the week update for you :)

Gross Anatomy seems to be the hardest class of them all. A whopping 8 credit hours. For example: One day we will go over the arm in class, then go to lab and be expected to know the whole arm in one day. Whoooa! Is right. Professor is from India :)

Embryology (2 credit hours) isnt too bad, taking endocrinology in undergrad helped me out big time so far, but focus really isnt spent too much in it yet..Professor is from India :)

Histology (5 hours) is super detailed and crazy hard, the lab is pretty fun though. Professor is from Mexico :)

Evidence based medicine (3 hrs)is pretty cool I guess but our professor is crazy! Hes written so many books and has a super crazy beard. This class talks about epidemiology and how you should use clues (evidence) to diagnose the patient. Professor is from England :)

Patient Doctor Relations I (3 hours) seems kinda common sense stuff. Like dont touch patients inappropriately and how to say the right thing to get the answer you need efficiently, since dr.s dont have ANY time to spend with their patients. :( Professor is Greek (and female)!!! :)

Student development program is a class we were forced to take but dont get any grades for just pass/ fail. It is taught by psychiatrists to make sure we adjust well and take a bunch of personality and mind quizzes. Pretty much a good time for facebook :)

This week I had 3 extra classes added on to my schedule. Apparently professors decide they want you to have learned more throughout the week and will schedule a 2 hour block of more classes.

I joined the AMSA chapter here. I LOVE it!!!! This week we learned how to do intubations! :) Basically a breathing tube. We used all the instruments and gadgets and stuff and had like 5 stations of dummies to use. Super fun! Next week or the week after we are going to do IVs! :D

So I am pretty settled in here, but I am unsettled by the fact that their are scorpions here! Freaky! :D

Today is Saturday and I have been on campus since 845am. That is normal though. We had review classes from 9-3 to review stuff we did in the last 2 weeks since its soo much. I dont mind, Id rather have the extra help. Tomorrow I am going to sleep IN! then study. But the season finale of True Blood is on so I will be watching that on my break!!

Our first set of blocks (exams - there are 4 for each class, final one is CUMULATIVE :( is on Sept 28-29..then apparently that night everyone goes out to dinner and parties! :)

White Coat Ceremony is on Oct 3, and I cant wait!! We were fitted for our coats last week and wrote how we wanted our names to appear on our coats. I chose to omit my middle initial since my last name is looooonnnng. Everyone goes out to dinner after that, which will be very fun!..Oh and I asked about the length of the white coats and since ours is short (waist length) which most schools do, it means that you are a doctor in training, but once you graduate you get a long coat. Some schools give the long ones (thigh) at ceremony, no us, but I dont really care anymore.

Hmm, Im sure I forgot so much of what has already gone on this week, but Im too tired and stressed to care! :) Back to studying! Miss you all!!

-Oh I almost forgot to mention the MBA program. So much busy work!! Managerial Communications (3 credit hours): I have a forum due day 2 and 4 (which is 300 words, cited on a topic professor selects), then I have to respond to 2 peoples forums before day 7. And I schedule an online chat for people in my group that the professor has assigned to reflect upon what we learned that week, then copy the chat and post it on the forum. FUN! not!

P.S. All the professors are M.D.'s with a bunch of other stuff after their names..

I tell ya, there is nothing like a good train wreck. Now multiply a good train wreck by 20 and you have Tool Academy on VH1. Its better than any talk show because the guys aren't your run of the mill rednecks, no they're a step above, but barely. Which makes the show more compelling, because if they were brain dead well what fun would that be. These guys are just idiots and its hilarious that their girlfriends have put up with them for this long. These guys aren't going to change, but its that slimmer of hope that the girls hang on to that really makes it funny. Their desperate hope that their man can change is the greatest comedy VH1 has ever provided, because as each week passes we see more and more that these guys dont have a redeemable quality. So with that I encourage you to watch, and try to figure out who the joke is really on, the girls or the guys.
